Alex Moll replied to the topic Does Government Kill Off Creativity? in the forum Career Advancement 8 years, 5 months ago
Often, I am described as such, always as compliment. This is the core reason I left the private sector to join the civil society sector and later, the Federal government. A few others in government have described me as creative, yet in the same breath with a tone of pity, rather than celebratory excitement. Whereas in the private sector, it was…[Read more]

Alex Moll replied to the topic Win a Ticket to PDF – How has the Internet changed your life? in the forum Technology 8 years, 7 months ago
The Internet has profoundly changed my outlook for democracy. Technology offers a convenient license and powerful means for change. As such, the Internet has given me a reliable hope that more deliberative, flatter, and effective democracies around the world are possible. This refers to the potential we now have to leverage ICT for not only…[Read more]

Alex Moll replied to the topic The negative nellies… in the forum Communications, Citizen Engagement, Customer Service 8 years, 11 months ago
My process: acknowledge, sometimes validate, understand where the person is coming from; oftentimes, people just need to vent, but it may be at an inappropriate time or place. Still, it’s better to address it rather than avoid it and hope it goes away. Sometimes discussions need to take a pit stop to address a deeply rooted cocern or fear that…[Read more]

Not so fast; at least inside the viewing auditorium, of which half (150 people total) were citizens from around country, laughed at the wit of it and even gave a round of applause! I actually thought it was witty and brilliant. To me, it made the President look super confident.

Alex Moll replied to the topic Free Ticket: What is the #1 Trend in Communication in 2012? in the forum Communications, Citizen Engagement, Customer Service 8 years, 12 months ago
The use of short 1-2 minute video. From mainstream news stations to the offices of Capitol Hill offices, there’s been a surge in this medium for online communications.

Alex Moll replied to the topic Tumblr vs. WordPress? in the forum Forum Discussions 9 years, 1 month ago
I’ve heard that WordPress is more searchable and user-friendly than perhaps Tumblr? Is that true? I’d be curious to hear why others might favor one over the other.

Customer Service In Government 9 years, 4 months ago
@GovLoop & @Wendi, thank you! This is inspirational for me, actually, and expands my original scopng of a strat comm plan. It makes sense for it to cohere with the overall values and goals of other higher level strategic documents. Perhaps this would occur naturally, however, making a conscious effort would ensure it, so this is good tack to take.

Customer Service In Government 9 years, 4 months ago
Here’s a question for the group: Is is suitable to incorporate a customer service plan within the framework of an overall strategic communications plan? Or, vice versa? How do the two relate? Can anyone point to an example? Thanks for listening!

Alex Moll replied to the topic GovHelp: How Would You Improve Data.gov, Fed Web Policy and Regulations.gov? in the forum Technology 9 years, 5 months ago
Steve, great suggestions. The Regulations.gov team is currently developing the next iteration of the website over the next six months, and part of what we’re trying to do is open up the rulemaking process to include these key ideas. So, the notion of better navigation is key as well as an integrated social media outreach process. More than that,…[Read more]
