I’d ask “what do you want to do about the clay layer“?

Have you seen Matt Hall’s “One Wiki to Rule them all” post? It’s a great vision of what a large organization wiki could (should?) look like.
I proposed, designed, helped build, train and run a large wiki-based corporate intranet for my Branch. We used it for everything from Staff Profiles to benign document hosting.

@1smithThe “Son of Man”. I figured a good ironic use of an iconic non-anonymous image of the “anonymous businessman” would work in our context. Besides, an apple a day….

Bowen Moran replied to the topic Is eGov in Canada slipping? in the forum GovLoop Canada 11 years, 4 months ago
We rank far behind where we could be, in my experience and opinion. There are great federal initiatives, and some Provinces are doing good work, but the initative is made up entirely of self-starters, facing policy and practice barriers. The largest arena where we currently fall far behind is that the far majority of eGov initatives are by public…[Read more]

Ironically enough Nick, today, I am in the process of employing similar templates to a SharePoint based wiki. I’d also like to see what you’re doing over there.

Bowen Moran replied to the topic Is Govloop North Starting as a Fragmentation? in the forum GovLoop Canada 11 years, 5 months ago
I think we need a focus that encompasses all the public services in Canada, municipal, provincial, territorial and federal. GovLoop North will be, I hope, a place for connection across these levels. Canadian Gov 2.0 seems to me to me more directed towards connecting at a federal level.

Can we define what we mean by accessibility here?

Bowen Moran replied to the topic Why? in the forum GovLoop Canada 11 years, 5 months ago
GCpedia and OSpedia may be great, but as a member of the BC Public Service, I can’t see them. Part of the goal of GovLoopNorth is the creation of a de-siloed community of Canadian Public Servants to meet common goals. While lofty, here’s a practical business win for such a move – if I use MediaWiki for something and am having an issue getting…[Read more]

Bowen Moran replied to the topic Should We Build a Unique Site Or Use Govloop? in the forum GovLoop Canada 11 years, 5 months ago
Now I don’t want to come across as a big – we have privacy issues naysayer. I’m personally torn. I participate in nearly all the US Gov 2.0 forums I can get my hands on. Public Servants in the US are taking an amazing lead in moving into Web 2.0 tools, and I think there are many valuable lessons to be learned. Maybe our own corner of GovLoop could…[Read more]

Bowen Moran replied to the topic Multi-Level Gov’t Collaboration in the forum GovLoop Canada 11 years, 5 months ago
Mark – this is a really good point. I personally believe that Canadian Public Service renewal must include all levels of public servants. There are fantastic business reasons for collaborating – the very least of which being cost sharing initiatives. If I’m working on a common application solution, and someone at another level of government is…[Read more]

Bowen Moran replied to the topic Should We Build a Unique Site Or Use Govloop? in the forum GovLoop Canada 11 years, 5 months ago
I think there are profound challenges for us as Canadians. Concerns about the Patriot Act, collection and distrbution of personal information, policy restrictions and the differences in information ownership between the two countries may be deeply limiting. In discussions about the concept of a Canadian Public Service based social network among…[Read more]

Bowen Moran replied to the topic Is Govloop Accessible? Can We Improve it? in the forum GovLoop Canada 11 years, 5 months ago
Let me suggest that the accessibility issue we face as Canadians are threefold.
1. The need for both official languages.
2. Canadian Privacy and Crown information law, policy and procedures are markedly different than US laws. How do we share information within these confines? How do we manage differences between provinces, municipalities and the…[Read more] -
