I think we need to look at it from the candidates point of view in addition to the hiring manager and recruiter. Why would a talented and capable employee wait for a job offer when others are on the table? When we don’t try to squeeze out the best and brightest they go elsewhere because we can. I think we undervalue soft skills and the skills that help people better adapt to changing conditions. I think of sensemaking and critical thinking especially.
