Darron Passlow replied to the topic How to make Open Gov/Gov 2.0 and Open Data Sustainable? in the forum Government 2.0 Australia 10 years, 4 months ago
I thought I would make a comment here as possibly the only Aussie looking at this post (come on other Aussies make a “liar” of me).
First I agree with one of the simple posts on your member page “106 slides. Wow”
This is a life story. Be careful that you do not fall into the “Death by PowerPoint” syndrome.I prefer a simple approach, five slides…[Read more]

Sure got a friendly “kick” from Adriel about your commercial stuff on the site. This is pretty normal. It is good to see they are actively moderating the GovLoop site. We can certainly get SCF stuff onto the main site in the form of case studies and major events. I (or others) can do it as “outsiders”, it is more diifficult for…[Read more] -

@beachbloggerHey Des
Slack is not the word! I note I last contacted you in August 2009.
If this is the best we can do, I suggest we do not waste each others time.
As an aside, I continue to follow GovLoop but I am afraid I am losing interest in it as a “universal” platform for communications on important issues.
It is very “rah, rah!” since taken…[Read more] -

Enjoyed your forecasts (and it is not easy to use a crystal ball, let alone interpret what you see!).
Well done.
One comment that needs expressing (for discussion) from your post and Cris’ comment here is that we need to separate the technology from the philosophical debate (of community engagement etc).
I would like to see us continue to…[Read more] -

Innovation is the key to success for our involvement in Gov2.0 initiatives. I was delighted to find the attached link (in a USA Gov2.0 group discusion). I thought I would bring it to the attention of others, who like me might not have been aware of this significant activity (that warrants our support).
4. Advancing Public Sector Innovation…[Read more]

Darron Passlow replied to the topic What is the relationship between citizen engagement and customer service? in the forum Citizen Engagement and Customer Service 10 years, 6 months ago
I think we might be gettting a bit confused by terminology here.
Surely the ultimate goal is to “deliver appropriate, required services” to our customers (community).
The term Customer Service tends to be used to describe the interaction we have with our customers (hence the customer service front desk etc).
Meeting, greeting, interfacing and…[Read more] -

I love your honesty and that will help in PM.
My suggestion is “get out and do it!” (and there is no time like the present).
PM is like riding a bike (you can only read and learn about it for a limited time and then you need to do it).
PM covers all aspects of work and life and good project managers are generally successful in what they…[Read more] -

Competition a good idea – however the note on what US Gov is trying to do under Obama, seems a bit convoluted and disjointed.I do not think we should be debating (or “competitioning”) Gov 2.0. Let’s just accept that new technology will find its place in our lives!
What we should be doing is encouraging Rudd and Gillard to get behind a…[Read more]

Darron Passlow replied to the topic Can you help me find Australian politicians to chat about government 2.0? in the forum Government 2.0 Australia 10 years, 11 months ago

You are an extreme optimist to think there might be a politician “down under” that is “versed” enough on the topic of Gov 2.0 or even has the time or the inclination to comment. I wish you luck in your search!!
However, there was a Gov 2.0 Taskforce set up to look at the implications of Web 2.0 on open, two way communications betwen…[Read more] -
Darron Passlow replied to the topic What are You Doing on Columbus Day? in the forum Miscellaneous 11 years, 3 months ago
As an Australian we do not celebrate (or have a day off for) Columbus Day. We had our Labour Day holiday last week (Monday) so it seems we are in tune with Canada. Today I will be working hard on Community Engagement and Asset Management, to ensure our community has a better place in which to live.
I wish all my American friends and colleague -…[Read more] -
Darron Passlow replied to the topic Should we still use GovLoop? in the forum Forum Discussions 11 years, 3 months ago
I think this discussion is well and truly completed. 100+ for to 1 against private management. As an interested Aussie, I hope Gov 2.0 leads to open government and not secret, clandestine meetings.

Seems to be a problem with the extensions on the gov20australia site. Try;

Good stuff, but it seems that no-one apart from me is interested? You posted this 21 July and I am the first to comment having just found the site (today) and joined and commented in one fell swoop! Let’s see if we can get some more interest generated and more people (with good content) involved. Keep in touch. Darron Passlow

Just joined Govloop primarily interested in the Australian LG environment. Learnt about this activity from a friend on the separate Gov2.0 wiki site. Seems to be a heap of sites around. Perhaps you should look at the Gov2.0 site if you have not already. It is just starting off and currently lacking traction. It is also lacking and…[Read more] -

Thx. As you can see I am now in the “Govloop” and have joined up. As you said it appears a lot more active. However, this often means a lot more diverse and less focused – but we will see. I would like to stay in touch and perhaps we join as friends here also. Regards
