This group does not need much more to complete their loan – I like that they are mutually guaranteeing each others’ loans… and one of them is requesting funds for mobile phones: Khalida parveen M. Munir Group

Elizabeth Rosas replied to the topic Lots of “technologists” here! in the forum Forum Discussions 10 years, 10 months ago
I completely agree. I studied International Relations and Economics. My first job was as a CPA. I then did IT market research and strategy consulting. I now work for the County’s CIO as the least technical person on the team. But I think it’s useful to have us “generalists” (or whatever you want to call it) in IT – I understand enough about…[Read more]

Sacramento has started a Social Media Club and I am working on a subcouncil on this topic with the Feds – if this is something of interest to this group, perhaps we could start a Silicon Valley group…?

We don’t have any policies yet but are in the research phase, as you are. I am not sure if you’re a member of the Web Content Managers group but they are forming a national council to look at social media in government… They have some info posted here and on related pages:

Elizabeth Rosas replied to the topic If you could change one thing about government…what would it be? in the forum Forum Discussions 11 years ago
We have done “stand up” meetings in our agile software development projects and they do help cut down the meeting time – they are supposed to be 5 minutes (per scrum methodology) but haven’t been successful at keeping them *that* short.

The knee-jerk response I hear to this idea is “security”… but I don’t know how grounded in fact that is.

Elizabeth Rosas replied to the topic Where in your agency is Web managed? in the forum Web Management 11 years ago
It depends what you mean by “managed” – I work for the CIO and we are responsible for the overall portal environment, CMS, online applications and overall design, navigation, content & policies. We perform program management/PMO/development/maintenance functions – I posted our team structure here . Individual agencies/departments are responsible…[Read more]

Elizabeth Rosas replied to the topic Decentralizing Content Management in the forum Web Management 11 years ago
We decentralized web content management in conjunction with our CMS implementation in 2002. I would say it is now 90% maintained by agencies, with various levels of frequency. While we have official policy in place stating that Agency/Department heads are ultimately responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of content, in practice, we wind up…[Read more]

We have a fairly large internal team and do not outsource – although several of our developers were initially hired as extra help/unclassified staff. Our team is:
6 Java developers – some focus on the portal environment, others on applications, all do both new development & maintenance
1 graphics/UI designer – he also does CSS

Elizabeth Rosas replied to the topic Wiki Launch Help in the forum Forum Discussions 11 years, 1 month ago
Hi Lynette,
It is one wiki with differing permissions for certain pages – the default is that everyone can view and comment on all pages but individual workgroups (there are 8 of them) have the ability to create and edit their own pages, in order to foster collaboration.
Feel free to contact me if you want to discuss in more detail.
