I speak German, with a Russian accent, since I learned it with my wife, who is from Kharkov, Ukraine. We met in Germany and had only a little German in common and nothing else, so we learned that further.
Now in Arizona, she is learning english, as well as taking US History and Western civ classes. Interesting to go through those courses with her, and hear her completely unbiased perspectives, especially on US history and why we americans are the way we are (rugged individualism, independent spirit, puritanistic, etc.).
Personally, learning German opened a whole new perspective for me, when I was working as the top telecom SME for US Army Europe.
I’d like to learn more Russian, I do know some words, but can’t speak sentences. I’d also like to learn Spanish eventually…
