Kathleen Bender, City Procurement Contract Administrator, was unanimously appointed as chairperson for the prestigious Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) Award Committee through 2013.
The AEP Award is intended to assess innovation, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership attributes in the field of public procurement.
The AEP Award Committee is comprised of representatives from all 12 professional procurement organizations and is dedicated to establishing and maintaining high standards of education, certification, development, leadership, and ethics.

Bender has served the last three years as an AEP committee member and received the 2010 AEP Outstanding Contribution Award for her service to the organization. She has 13 years of procurement experience at the City of Tucson and is a Certified Purchasing Manager, a Certified Professional Public Buyer, and holds a degree from the University Of Arizona.
