Might want to reach out to the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. They may have done something with Mobile around the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign. If you’re interested, send me a private message and I’ll put you in touch with someone over there.

I’d add Deloitte’s GovLab to your list. But not sure how it stacks up against the others.

I’m not positive. But you can easily reach her @jenngustetic. This is good stuff, in fact, I’m going to do some more research and compile a short e-book on the topic for best practices.

Josh Folk replied to the topic Anyone using Yammer for government? in the forum Miscellaneous 8 years, 11 months ago

I know that Deloitte’s GovLab has been working with Yammer. I’m curious to know which agencies are currently using it as well.

Thanks! Jenn Gustetic also made a good point that a non-monetary prize can still “cost” the agency money. EX: paid trips to HQ or conferences, plaques, etc.

Does anyone have good ideas for non-monetary prizes for internal challenges/ideation campaigns?

Corey, it’s definitely easy to want to read everything! Sometimes, I find it hard to shut my computer all the way down because I don’t want to lose my various browsers full of articles that I want to get to eventually!

Wondering if there’s a rule of thumb for government web content/services in regard to SSL. For example, does logging into a web service (e.g. IdeaScale) require SSL if using a government network? If yes, then does all content need to be transfered via SSL or just log-in?
I’m assuming that each agency will have its own requirements, but thought a…[Read more]

I setup google reader and try to read the following a few times per week:
    – Washington Technology
    – Federal Computer Week
    – Government Executive
    – Government Computer News
    – GovFresh
I also make time daily in my calendar to catch up on discussions happening within GovLoop and LinkedIn. With the articles that I don’t have time to read I try to…[Read more]

Thanks, Steve. I have mixed feelings over Yammer. My organization actually just switch to Google Plus.

“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.” ~Henry Ford

Reading and learning on a daily basis is a great way to advance professionally, but can also be a huge time-waster. I’m always amazed at how some colleagues seem to master this…[Read more]

Josh Folk replied to the topic How do you work with your inbox? in the forum Program and Project Management 8 years, 12 months ago

Great discussion topic. Here’s my system in three easy steps:

    1. If an email takes less than 1 minute to respond I just do it
    2. If an email takes more than 1 minute to respond then I drop it in one of four folders: today, tomorrow, next week, or next month. I will then respond accordingly.
    3. If an email pertains to a specific project that I’ve…[Read more]

Josh Folk replied to the topic Which City Engages the Best? in the forum Citizen Engagement and Customer Service 8 years, 12 months ago

Recently, the City of Chicago launched http://askchicago.org/ asking citizens to submit questions related to the topic of Education via IdeaScale. The highest voted questions were then selected and asked to Mayor Emanuel during a live Facebook Town Hall. Very cool stuff. Appears they will continue with this type of engagement, featuring a new…[Read more]

Great question. Unfortunately, no clear answer yet. I agree with Faye that the best approach might be to make custom fields optional for stakeholders. I’ll ask some others to chime in.

In the meantime, you might find the following links useful (although nothing about using custom fields):…[Read more]

Josh Folk started the topic Are you destroying your personal brand using social networks? (hint: I’m not talking about those photos from last weekend). in the forum Leadership, Management, Supervision 10 years ago

The advent of social networking and mobile technology is making the ability to add/contribute to a conversation easier than ever before. No doubt about it – actively broadcasting yourself can help build your personal brand. However, broadcasting too frequently can be more detrimental to your brand than it is beneficial.
    Follow these three steps…[Read more]
