We recently recruited some graphic designers and we found some great potential applicants using the LinkedIn recruiter tool and Twitter.
Before putting the announcement out in the twitterverse, we searched popular hash tags being used by people in the industry and worked those in to our tweets; Think of it as targeted tweeting.

Thanks for your reply Julie. The intent of this discussion was to get people talking about ways to make internships fun and meaningful. In one of our previous posts, we actually discussed the FCIP: Recruiting without the FCIP

I like the op-in idea. If you did open them up it would be a great way for us to increase our profile visibility, and get recruitment messages out to an even larger audience.

I’m a communications analyst in the IRS Recruitment Office. I help manage our Facebook page and our activity here on GovLoop. I work with our business units to write job announcements in plain language. I also frequently write articles, help develop print products and advertising – in general I do a little bit of everything associated with communication.

Maggie
I joined the IRS Recruitment Office in January 2010, as a management assistant and I’ve recently transitioned to an analyst position. The three years I spent searching through job announcements and applying were worth it. Some great opportunities have come my way, and I LOVE my job.
There wasn’t any one thing that I did that was key to landing my job. I checked USAjobs two or three times a week and applied for anything that sounded interesting, even if I was over qualified. I also let friends who work for the Federal Government know that I was looking for a position. Be patient and persistent!
PS-If you’re curious about IRS jobs visit our careers website: http://jobs.irs.gov/home.html We also have a facebook page where applicants ask questions and we share tips on how to get your foot in the door-feel free to check it out :http://on.fb.me/dkbxFO Good Luck!
