Emi – welcome to the wordpress adventure. I was a newbie just six months ago and now I’m a designer/developer.
1. six months
2. It was free or very low cost. We wanted to tie together very different pieces into one overall community engagement website – innovation management and volunteer management with social media, community calendar, and news feeds. WP could tie all of these together – and we did it for under $200 annually (plus my staff time).
3. Not difficult at all once you embrace open-source community. You have to be flexible and prepared for adjustments as the ‘community’ continues to improve the programming – and be good at researching the support forums.
4. It is very user friendly, so if you want to engage the public – it works well. Plus it integrates very easily with social media, email subscription services, and much more.
If you want to see what I’ve put together check out the Community Link here: http://accesscommunitylink.org/
Feel free to ask any questions. I have loved learning this stuff.
