I’m wondering who is working on open data initiatives? Are you doing it individually or collaboratively? There are some great models out there already in Washington DC, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, certainly at the Federal level etc. Any smaller jurisdcitions taking this on?
Some of us in Colorado have started CSC Labs or Colorado Smart Communities Labs.
What is Colorado Smart Communities? Our goal is to utilize technology to transform Colorado government at all levels (state, county, and city) to be more transparent, accountable, and accessible. We are comprised of both public and private sector professionals. We are like a think tank, educational resource, and open source technology community all rolled into one.If you are a government employee, concerned citizen, journalist, programmer, hacker, elected official, vendor, or techie interested in how you can participate in transforming government in Colorado, we encourage you to join our group.Check out our groupsite at http://csclabs.groupsite.com/main/summary and join the group! We are looking into creating a statewide landing point for open data and app sets.
We will be hosting the Rocky Mountain Gov 2.0 Camp in June, http://barcamp.org/rmgov20camp
Please share your strategies here as well. It seems important that we all not re-invent this wheel.
