Managing your social skills at work can be an artform!
Whether it is working the room, working the halls, or how you carry yourself – workplace savvy is mandatory for getting ahead. Knowing how much or how little to contribute at a meeting, dressing to impress, interacting across the generations, and understanding the right balance of humor and respect is important. Managing that fine line between uptight and obnoxious can be tricky. We have all seen people falter and it is good to learn from their mistakes.
What are some social gaffes you have encountered at your agency? How did that person overcome them? What do you think are currently some interpersonal skill challenges that people are facing at work?
To hear more on this topic and others come to the 3rd Annual GovLoop/Young Government Leaders Next Generation of Government Training Summit (July 26-27, 2012). For more information or to register please visit our website.
