You know, I keep seeing people quoted as saying that millenials don’t have the same motivations as the older folks that have been in the workforce longer, but I think that to a great extent employers have done that to themselves. For example, a recent blog post by Scott Neal, City Manager for Eden Prairie, MN (thanks Mark!), discussed how Governing magazine had an article on “How to cut benefits”, and he talked about how Eden Prairie has never gotten into “the retiree medical benefit quagmire” in the first place.
With loyalty to employees like that, why do we even wonder why employees don’t have a lot of loyalty to their employers?

I do, however, find the quotes from Hamilton enlightening. Will have to add that to my list of those things I’d like to look up and read more about.
