GSA is very interested in diverse endpoints and several pilot programs are underway include #iPads in the org. We are making good progress and lots of progress in the area of management, security and remote access. I have stopped carrying my laptop for most days. Still some ways to go in FIPS 140-2 compliance and CAC integration. Especially…[Read more]

@Amanda thats a sweet setup. A little tip. Since you have extended RAM (6GB), look into upgrading to Windows 7 64bit (if you are not already using 64bit) to get the most out of it. You will notice the difference.

I work from home if everyone else is out of the house. Starbux (or preferably another coffee shop in the afternoon). Any place with outdoor seating in the summer, or an empty conference room

@26zub86o74r0aThanks for the kind words and the comment. I am not a video expert. more of an amateur enthsiast. I do love iMovie though for its simplicity and power. I know Adobe and other solutions are much more powerful, but iMove is sufficient for what I need to do every day.

Speaking of Epson, my first intel based PC was an Epson XT. It was an 8088 XT computer with a 4MHz processor and 32KB of RAM. Two 5 (1/4)” floppies, no HDD and a monochrome monitor Ran DOS and eventually Windows 3.1 (but had to get an HDD upgrade and CGA graphics for windows).
Good times. Good times.

Sonny Hashmi replied to the topic SOUND OFF: Your Thoughts on the Federal Discretionary & Pay Freeze? in the forum Miscellaneous 10 years, 1 month ago
The state and local governments have been suffering the economic downturn more sharply than the feds. DC has fared better that most of our State and Local peers. Even still, we have been experiencing pay freeze for all non-union employees since FY10 (going on two years and into out third year now). The FY11 budget for the first time puts furloughs…[Read more]

Andreas, Flash is allowed on the Macbook Air. It just doesn’t come pre-packaged on a new install, similar to how it doesnt come pre-packaged on windows machines. There is a setting in safari that will allow Flash Content and of course you need to download the plugin. The Core 2 Duo is good enough for light to medium duty jobs (I still use my Core…[Read more]

Depends on your use case. I can see myself using a MacBook air if I travelled a lot and needed an ultra portable for light duty blogging/document work. I’d take the weight savings any day. Then again, maybe I would take the ipad and a bluetooth keyboard. The MacBook air seems to be targeted to those folks who wanted full OSX experience in the iPad.
