In my gov2.0 circles, some of the best Social Media usage guidelines have been from the US Air Force. In fact, some of their information was heralded at the PR industry’s Social Media Conference held in Las Vegas this past March. The gentleman there from USAF was Joseph Fordham, and he knew his stuff. I’ve since run into other colleagues of his at other gov 2.0 events — all are equally impressive.
I know that the State Department is working on social media policy, and Lovisa Williams is involved in that effort. She was just highlighted in a GovLoop article this week, so keep an eye out for that.
I would also suggest posting this query on other GovLoop groups, if you haven’t already. There’s one called Twitterati that might be just the place to get LOTS of response.
Finally, I’d give some thought to defining which aspects of social media you’re looking to have covered. Technically speaking, wikis, blogs, and the like are also social media, alongside the more hot-button social media properties like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn and even Ning communities like this one. If i can help you clarify that at all, don’t hesitate to drop me a note. I LOVE talking about this stuff.
