OMG That Sandra Lee video was horrible! At first, I thought Sandra Lee was a show to help people that couldn’t cook prepare easy, no-cook food for their guests that wouldn’t make them sick. That cake….my stomach turned while watching the video. I wouldn’t even take that cake as a last minute cake to a potluck. Heck, why not just buy a ready made cake? Uh…. somebody explain to me what the corn nuts or acorns, and apple pie filling have to do with Kwanzaa?
Well, I still like some of the Food Network shows. I must admit I like Food Detectives. Now that there aren’t any new Good Eats episodes, I like most of the shows learning about the science, origins and history of food. But I do not watch as much as I used to. I agree with GeekChick about the new Iron Chef. Every once in awhile when nothing is on, I try to watch it but the show never holds my attention for the entire hour. I miss when Bobby Flay was grilling and putting chipotles in everything. His Iron Chef and Throwdown incarnations are not as entertaining or informative.
I do have to say do like watching some of the regional cook-offs and Challenge shows. Seeing regular people, not “celebrity chefs” so passionate about their dishes inspires me to be more creative in the kitchen. Rachael Ray may not be the best cook, but most of her stuff at least looks like it would taste good. That Sandra Lee Kwanzaa cake…yuck!
