So, Danielle has taken on quite a bit here, which will take me some time to process. But, in general my response to her is “I agree.”
Forget the mall; think about the hammer. If your hammer work isn’t creating the outcome you seek, you don’t usually throw out the hammer. You get better with it. Or you find the right tool for the job. If it isn’t…[Read more] -

While this contest is a fun–and instructive–idea, the entries that won’t be submitted (career suicide, anyone?) will almost certainly top those that are posted here for public consumption. Too bad you can’t guarantee privacy or anonymity, but anyone who would fall for such a guarantee online will likely end up being a comms victim for next…[Read more]

Shameless plug for my own Dept. aside, no Cabinet official updates his blog as regularly as Sec. LaHood at fastlane.dot.gov. Like the content or not, he’s keeping his broad range of stakeholders–from aviation to trucks to trains to transit to car safety to pipelines and roads–in the loop. And, dude’s got style.

Totally psyched for this tool. Three cool things about DOT IdeaHub? 1) We have all of these different operating agencies at DOT, and IdeaHub allows us to designate ideas as being Department-wide or within an OA. 2) Response flexibility is great; local managers can pick up ideas they like whenever they want, and ideas that garner votes and activity…[Read more]
