Well from my limited perspective…I did build a beta community of practice. It was developed into groups.
And, I envisioned them to be SME work groups of sorts…. like a technical management review board as one group and internal public affairs group for another. And, it is this one that I got excited about from an internal and external communications perspective.
For example, say if an agency has 45 PAOs scattered throughout xx number of regions in the US, they could all come together within a “community of practice” to discuss/develope best practices, policies, issues for media, create press releases say in Spanish which could be worked on collaboratively to include working on the nuance differences in language say from NY, FL, TX, CA. All PAOs working on the same press release from all the regions and all regions would have the same materials for use form one single community of practice. A collective real time space to work on work together.
I would love to see an agency adopt a Ning sort of internal CoP….for agencies. Is anybody/somebody doing that?
