Hello, fellow thought leaders… how do we feel about the US now? Are we on track towards becoming a nation that the young waitress in the original story would be proud of, or has the nation declined?

In one month, it’ll be three years since I published this article. Let’s see how we’re doing:
According to the CIA World Fact Book, the U.S. HAS DROPPED IN RANK FROM 17 to 169 IN INFANT MORTALITY in the world. One click below Poland and one click above Serbia.

Simply the latest on the U.S. decline.
On this Easter weekend, I just got home from spending several days in a rural part of America. I found lots of good people who are actively working to keep their community in good health. The point of my…[Read more]

Earl – it’s an honor. My Father-in-Law knew Hal Moore and several other notables personally. He was also a member of special forces with the hill tribes in Area C – three tours. Two tours in Korea before that.
30+ years and full bird Colonel later, he didn’t slow down. He started and built his own company to 1400 employees, and touched the lives…[Read more]

Maybe you’ve seen the video I did for Veteran’s Day? That video was published in a good number of venues. I got a lot of thanks from friends and former service buddies. I even reconnected with a few former service buddies – which was fun.
It’s probably not politically correct to tell you that I actually got a little fatigued from all the thank…[Read more] -

Employees who are currently deemed ‘essential” get the short end of the stick in a shutdown where Congress decides to pay employees retroactively.
Non-furloughed employees are still fighting traffic. They’re still working full days. They’re picking up the workload for others who aren’t in the office. And they don’t get paid any sooner or any…[Read more] -

Based on this article published in GlobeSt.com, an argument could be made that American business has had enough of government drama, is shrugging it off and moving forward. Despite an endless stream of bad fiscal decisions and uncertainty, businesses are doing okay – not great, maybe, but okay.
Historically, uncertainty coming from the government…[Read more] -

It used to be an insult to be called a “User.” If you were called a “user,” it meant that you use people. “Users” are selfish, manipulative, and sometimes cruel. I don’t want to be called a “user.” I’d feel bad if someone called me that.
If you must call me something because I use a piece of technology that you helped to create, call me a…[Read more] -

Gun rampages tend to have two things in common 1.…[Read more] -

Steven,
My thoughts: Crisis management is a multi-step process. In a cases as overwhelmingly horrific as what happened in Connecticut and China were, people need time to come to terms with what happened. They need to get past the phases of grief (see the Kuber-Ross five phase model or the 7 Stages of Grief discussed on recover-from-grief.com).…[Read more] -

It’s with a sad heart that I write this note tonight. Every American within ear shot of the media today took notice. Every parent hugged their kids and will maybe watch them sleep. I know I have and I will.
To think that our kids could have their innocence shattered by two mass murder events in elementary schools today is unconscionable. As I…[Read more] -
