I know you 🙂 and thank you for replying.
My project aims to display civil protection information related to e.g. evacuation areas, critical buildings, schools, operational centers,…. in a map where I can visualize also map risks such as forest fires areas, floodings, earthquake risks areas, etc. [polygons]. Moreover I would allow population to submit reports and further information.
I am working with drupal 6.x and the usual modules.
I created a type of content to geolocate some information [a single point in a map].
With open layer I succeeded in importing some files, but not the ones that interest me.
1. many civil protection bodies have arcgis so they can give me shape files. I discovered Geoserver and I should try the conversion
2. other public data files have the another structure. Here is an example http://geohub.jrc.ec.europa.eu/effis/wms/kml?layers=EFFIS:HotspotsAll, and as you can see it is not a “pure” kml file, but a kmz, and the file refers to an external source [wms]. Maybe this is the reason why openlayer module can not manage it.
This is the crucial point.
