Is there a need to dig deep? Yes. Is this a good use of public funds and time? Yes again.
There is no excuse for mismanagement and unauthorized use of government funds. There are some who project a fine public image (they look good in uniform (an allusion to the manner in which they dress and comport themselves) and operate below the radar) and based on that aspect of their projected image, think they can do no wrong or are above (beyond) reproach. They need to start being team players and mentoring those who need it. They also need to do some self-reflection and stop being so judgmental or political.
Nevertheless, it’s convenient to attack Federal government officials (and those who do violate the Public Trust should be prosecuted), given the size and scope of our government and the budget crises that perpetually affect it. How many people who attack the government and its mismanagers are beyond reproach?
Everyone needs to keep their own house in order, including me. Maybe this will be an eye opener to those who have escaped public or private scrutiny to toe the line and not wind up like those who have fallen from grace.
No one expects perfection, just a little common sense and good judgment.
