I think about it every day: “my job would be more efficient if I had a tablet.” There’ s no doubt in my mind that Government would save money if it invested in tablets, apps, etc. The problem is that it takes a large inital investment and it’s hard to prove the efficiencies that are gained. Welcome to the Knowledge Age (vs Information Age)!
I’m not sold on iPad’s yet, the computer nerd in me still thinks a non-Apple tablet would be better in the long run. I’m pretty excited for Windows 8 (for tablets), and I think it might be the way to go for business. Android has been too slow to adapt to tablets, but still awesome. I’ll take anything at this point!
I’ll guarantee you this: 10-15 years from now we are going to be walking around with tablets and we’ll have apps that pull up schedules, cost data, real-time policy & guidance, lessons learned, expert locators….and of course sports highlights (Knicks, NBA Champions 2022).
