Agencies use an array of technologies to protect their facilities and campuses, including cameras, access control systems, and notification and dispatch systems. In theory, those systems enable security staff to conduct continuous surveillance and to detect and respond quickly to potential risks. The problem is one of scale: Agencies can have hundreds or even thousands of cameras in the field. On top of that, staff must investigate all false alarms generated by access control systems. The odds of security personnel detecting a risk in real time range from highly unlikely to nearly impossible.
Given the opportunity to modernize, agencies immediately think about upgrading their cameras and other endpoint devices. But besides being expensive, new hardware does nothing to help staff make sense of the overwhelming volume of information flooding into their security operations center. But agentic AI changes that equation by continuously monitoring and analyzing activity in real time and alerting staff to critical threats.
“An agentic physical security solution allows the security team to shift from that passive and reactive state to an autonomous, proactive incident detection-and-response state,” said Tom Fischer, Head of Sales Engineering for Public Sector at Ambient.ai.
In this video interview, Fischer discusses how an agentic solution can strengthen the full range of physical security operations, from threat detection and incident response to advanced forensics. Topics include:
- The core capabilities of an agentic AI physical security solution
- Key factors for improving incident response
- Three measurable outcomes that an agentic solution can provide
