If We Tell People About Our House, Will Anyone Believe Us?

A friend of mine shared this with me and I wanted to pass it along. Jonas Bendiksen has a gift and an incredible vision.

More people live in cities than in rural areas and more than 1 billion people live in slums. I was blown away by that. We’ve all heard of slums, but have you ever been close enough to see what one actually looks like?

Bendiksen’s project entitled, The Places We Live, photographs slums in Caracas, Venezuela; Mumbai, India; Nairobi, Kenya; and Jakarta, Indonesia. Thanks to Jonas Bendiksen’s incredible photography, we can go inside 16 homes across in these areas and discover how people live in some of the worst areas across the globe.

Each house you enter tells a story of what it is like to live in such a place. The most eye opening part of this journey is hearing people have such incredible outlooks when they live in such horrible conditions. They are positive and thankful for what they have. Some even consider themselves lucky in their community.

The Places We Live will change your perspective on how blessed we all are to live where we do. Check it out, it will open your eyes and shock you.
