Canada has long been looking to the cloud to expand services for the public sector. In setting the government’s vision for cloud adoption, Canada’s public sector leadership had three main goals: to help bring the supply of IT service into balance with the demand for citizen services; to provide a consistent approach to managing the risks of cloud adoption; and to prepare the IT workforce for cloud.

As part of that vision setting and meeting their goals of using the cloud, back in 2011 the majority of Canadian public sector IT infrastructure was consolidated under the management of a single organization: Shared Services Canada (SSC). And SSC recently announced the awarding of multiple contracts to six partners of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner Network for access to AWS cloud services.

The AWS Partner Network (APN) is a global partner program that focuses on helping organizations build a successful AWS-based business by providing business, technical, marketing, and go-to-market support.

One of these six partners is Scalar Decisions, an AWS Advanced Consulting partner, AWS Managed Services Provider (MSP) and an AWS Public Sector partner.

Scalar is one of Canada’s leading IT solutions provider, focused on security, infrastructure, cloud, and digital transformation. Founded in 2004, Scalar is headquartered in Toronto, with offices in Montreal, Ottawa, London, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Victoria. Scalar was also recently recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, named to CRN’s 2017 Solution Provider 500 List, and listed on the PROFIT 500 for the seventh year running.

Leveraging a combination of leading-edge technologies from their partners and in-depth consulting and architecture from the team, Scalar designs and deploys cloud solutions that deliver mission success.

“Scalar continues to build on the strength of AWS to provide valuable cloud services for Canadian businesses,” said Paul Kerr, President and CEO of Scalar, in a press release. Kerr also cites “Scalar’s commitment to reduce the complexity of leveraging cloud solutions compared to the cost and resources associated with on-premises technology.”
