How Zero Trust Can Ready Your Data for AI

Most agencies have made progress on applying zero-trust architecture to identity, network, device and application security to help secure their systems. But applying zero trust to data — one of the pillars of CISA’s Zero Trust Maturity Model — is often more difficult. Unstructured data proliferates too quickly for manual classification processes to keep up.

To secure all this data at scale and speed, agencies need an automated platform that finds, classifies and tags data and applies secure access controls. Such a platform does more than just meet the zero-trust mandate. By putting data in context and providing consistent governance, it provides a foundation for AI-readiness, which in turn can facilitate faster decision-making and greater mission agility.

“Agencies know that they have a data problem,” said Ashley Blake, Global Head, Product Management, Public Sector & Regulated Industries, at Collibra. “It’s just [that it is] overwhelming. They know a vast percentage of their data is unstructured and, therefore, ungoverned. But knowing this, and then having a plan to fix it — those are just two totally different things.”

In this video interview, Blake discusses how and why agencies need automated data intelligence to meet the requirements of zero trust — and AI. Topics include:
