You Are Essential

We'll say it as many times as it takes: "You Are Essential!"

Yes, you heard us.  Every federal employee is essential. Heck, every government employee is essential, and that includes all you state and local folks. We are all in this together and we don't have to look further than you waking up and walking into work to see the awesome passion that government employees display on a daily basis.

Right now government needs a pick-me-up and GovLoop is here to provide it in the form of free stickers and solidarity.

It's a small thank you (we know public servants deserve much more), but we want to send you special shutdown-themed stickers to keep your spirits high tell your neighbors and local barista that your work matters.

Step One: Fill out the form on the right side (also can use the link) of the page and we'll ship you a pack of 10 stickers to hand out at your office and wear around as a badge of honor. Also, don't be shy once you get them. Post pics of you and your government friends rocking them in the office or on furlough (#iamessential).

Step Two: We want all you to come together in support of each other and the awesome work you do. So GovLoop has changed it's Facebook profile pic to this...

...and we'd invite you to do the same. Show your support of public servants everywhere who get up every morning with their mind set on making a difference.

Here's the downloadable image that's already sized perfectly for your Facebook profile pic: essential-01.png

Together we can keep spirits high and show the world that you, public servants, are essential!

A wise old supervisor once said to an eager young employee who was disappointed that she wasn't getting a pay raise.

"It's not that you're not worth that extra money. It's that the job doesn't pay that much money."
