The Intelligent Transportation Society of America recognized innovators in the transportation technology community with its Best of ITS Awards on Monday. On the transit side, Carnegie Mellon University’s Tiramisu Transit application took second place in the category for best new innovative products, services, or applications. Transit Wire readers may remember this app, which uses crowdsourcing to develop arrival predictions for Port Authority of Allegheny County buses and trains. “This is the leading awards program in the country on transportation innovation and each of the winners is truly propelling transportation innovation forward,” said ITS America president and CEO Scott Belcher about the awards. “Each project that was recognized is a great example of how technology can be used to cost effectively create a safer, more effective transportation network.”
