The production of Julius Caesar at the New Theatre in Sydney last night reminded me of the movie 300 retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae. Caesar had sufficient gravitas for a Royal Shakespeare production. But Brutus and the conspirators spent much of the performance bare chested showing off their impressive abs. They seemed to think that shouting was necessary for projecting strong emotions.
