Many others have traveled this road before so learn from their mistakes, don’t repeat them. It’s helpful to talk to folks who have had a successful military to civilian transition as well as those who hit some bumps along the way. What did they do right? What did they do wrong? What would they change about how they approached their transition?
Use civilian terminology, in your resume and other materials, but also when you’re interviewing and networking. You’re trying to get a job in a new world, so speak the language of that new world.
