Senator Rockefeller Introduces Pro Open Source Legislation

I guess I posted this notice everywhere but here. This will really knock your socks off if you’re thinking of an open source EHR. Note the reference to working with the open source community.

This doesn’t really come as a surprise, since West Virginia has implemented a successful implementation of RPMS across a community clinic consortium. Perhaps the Senator paid them a visit to see how it was working out?

Interesting. I am from the great state of West Virginia and haven’t heard of Senator Rockefeller’s roll in this initative. I think it’s great, though. I will send him some info about the Public Health Grid, a “super-computing, grid technology” approach to open source for the very purpose the Senator is hoping for. I am on the communications team for this initiative at CDC. He is probably not aware of its existance.
