Work Harder On Yourself Than You Do On Your Job

Innately, we as humans don’t like problems. We like things to run smoothly, with no hiccups or bumps in the road. But therein lies the problem. Because we want so desperately to be problem-free, when they do come up, we are overwhelmed by them. But now that I’ve brought this to your attention, this will longer be the way you handle problems in life, right?

You will not avoid them rather you will face them head-on.

The secret to dealing with problems is that no matter the size of the problem, in order to defeat it, you only need to grow yourself. If you work on you and grow yourself and become bigger than the problem, then you will not only be successful in life, but in the workplace.

Remember your outer world is simply a reflection of your inner world. If you have huge problems in your personal life or in your work life, what does that say about what’s going on inside of you. I often hear coworkers complain about their bosses, every day. If they focus on the problem, then they will only get more problems.

If you can relate and want real relief, it’s best to stop focusing on the size of problem and start focusing on the size of you.

Decide to be bigger than your problems. If you can handle big problems in your organization, the bigger the responsibility you will handle. That will inevitably lead to being paid more and promoted faster. When you grow yourself, the possibilities are endless.

So little time for reflection these days, but something as simple as a mental review of our day along with some solid probing questions (what did I do well? what would I have done better? what makes me grateful?) can go a long way toward doing the interior work that pays immense dividends in every other area of our lives.
