I think that there are NAF jobs that don’t appear in usajobs, gov. HR at 87 FSS (JBMDL) refers applicants to http://www.nafjobs.com

Deborah Rexon replied to the topic GovHelp: Budget Crunch – What Gov’t Programs Ought to Be Axed? in the forum Miscellaneous 9 years, 11 months ago

Every year government organizations, large and small, are taxed with producing a variety of reports (pick one or all — annual, quarterly, monthly, weekly). IMHO many of these reports go unread; gathered data is neither shared nor disseminated, and countless manhours are wasted in producing the reports for an audience of one or two. Leadership…[Read more]

    Jerry –
I wholeheartedly agree with you. I’m glad the name change didn’t fly as I thought it sounded more like one of the 24/7 reference services out there. I am a librarian in charge of a special collection in one of my three jobs, a military librarian in another. My corporate boss fully understands what I do and my value to the organization, and…[Read more]

Deborah Rexon replied to the topic FREE Ebooks in the forum Ancient Media: Books 10 years, 9 months ago

If you have a public library account, or have access to the AKO, Overdrive has eBooks in both ePDF and EPUB formats downloadable to the Sony Reader or Nook. Lending periods vary with the library, usually 7-14 days. I’m borrowing a Sony Reader from our library and download the books myself to my computer then transfer to the Reader. I am hooked!…[Read more]

Women vets need to look to their local libraries, both public and military for support — information resources, job info, free meeting rooms for functions. I work at the military library at JB McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and would love to see our local women vets get together here and use our services in pursuing an education and a better life.

My ultimate goal is to do the web-based video w/ audio for training purposes. The FLIP does ok audio if you’re not too far away. Or would it be better to do the audio & video as separate components?

I’m a real novice at this and have never done a podcast before. Is it possible to use my FLIP digital camera to do a basic podcast w/o lots of bells & whistles? Can you recommend a good book for those w/ minimal tech experience?

sorry to digress, but here’s an off the wall thought for the day — what if Harry Turtledove (or Mrs. Harry) wrote an alternative history of the US where founders were all women and and women in the military fought & won the Revolutionary War with hight tech, incl. social networking

I don’t think so. While a more Borders/Barnes & Noble merchandisong model has its strong points, the bottom line is what best serves the user/patron/customer in finding the material. DCC still offers a more exacting way to locate items within a given system. There are still lots of Millenials that don’t relate to the DCC system because they have…[Read more]
