The cloud – four years ago it was the buzzword heard around government, now the cloud is in many ways the norm, but buying the cloud is still a bit tricky. Contracting officials haven’t really caught up to buying a service rather than a product.

Deploying any new system–from software, to storage, to infrastructures –used to be a defined cycle requiring months of preparation, installation, and troubleshooting – all before you had even bought the product.

Now, you can initiate a new IT system in a couple of minutes, through a quick download from the cloud. This new model, is rapidly changing the way organizations buy and utilize applications to fulfill their mission. And sure the General Services Administration’s Federal Cloud Computing Initiative Program Management Office and the TechFAR Handbook for Procuring Digital Services are tools to help contracting officers, but if we are being honest, cloud procurement is still pretty confusing.

Please join GovLoop, ViON and Hitachi Data Systems Federal at the upcoming in-person event, Buying the Cloud – Procurement Made Easy, we will talk with government experts about:

  • Common procurement misconceptions
  • What key terms you need to be looking for in a cloud
  • Some common cloud procurement mistakes and how to avoid them
  • How to write procurements in a new way
  • The understanding the different types of Clouds and the different methodologies to procure them
  • How to demystify FedRamp
