Some of you will remember an earlier blog post about the webconference that Elena Rapisardi and I convened, in January, 2010, among people in Virginia, New Orleans, Boston, Italy (University of Ferrara campus) and in Dublin, with the generous assistance of Management Concepts staff. Elena, a member of the GovLoop community, continues her groundbreaking efforts to harness social media for emergency preparedness and emergency response purposes in Italy. The technical aspect of those efforts is the simplest one; as we all know, introducing a constructive vision for the future that can change mindsets and motivate different behavior is much harder and requires leadership. Elena is doing both. A quick video that gives us a peek at the latest project is available at http://www.vimeo.com/21875547. Take a look.

Thank you Kitty for sharing this!
What I am developing with the Centro Intercomunale Colline Marittime e Bassa Val di Cecina – a local Civil Protection body that manages 11 municipalities in Tuscany – has been possible as the responsible of the Centre, Antonio Campus, geologist, has come to believe that web 2.0 applied to risk and emergency management can improve both emergency management and preparedness; moreover citizens 2.0 can be proactive and more resilient.
It is a challenging common effort we are doing.
The next step of this project will be to train the volunteers and to involve the mayors of the 11 municipalities.
Unfortunately the web site and information are in italian. But I will be happy to share and give information to whom will be interested into this experience.
