Eurostar, which provides high-speed rail connections between England, France, and Belgium, has launched a free mobile application that allows passengers to book trips and receive tickets directly on their phones. Passengers who book their trips on the app, which is available for iPhones and Android devices, will receive a mobile ticket with an electronic barcode that can be scanned at check-in. “We first knew we had to get into mobile after we saw a substantial amount of web traffic coming in from mobile devices, but our website was not optimized for it,” said Chris Jenkin, head of product and partnerships at Eurostar, London. “We also wanted to make sure our consumers had a convenient and seamless way to travel.” Link to full story in Mobile Commerce Daily.
