The National Library of Medicine (NLM) responds to more than 100,000 questions each year. Regularly asked questions become Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). NLM Reference and Consumer Health FAQs are at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/services/faqref.html . We review and update our FAQs frequently. The FAQ resources often include national and international government agencies and non-profit organizations. Many people are concerned about genetics and genetics testing. Our FAQ, “Genetics Resources,” provides sources that you can use to answer your questions.
The FAQ, at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/services/genetics_resources.html, answers the question, “Where do I find information on genetic conditions?” Two NLM resources are Genetics Home Reference™ and MedlinePlus®. Another resource is a link to a “talking glossary” of genetics terms. The glossary pronounces the words and narrates definitions of the words.
