Improve Security With Simplified, Modern Identity Solutions

Identity and access management solutions have been a component of government cybersecurity strategies for many years. That’s become a problem. Over time, agencies have accumulated various identity tools, single sign-on solutions, and legacy directories, all spread across multiple networks. This environment comes with substantial overhead for agency staff, including a growing number of help desk calls, more time-intensive manual provisioning, and laborious compliance reporting.

It all leads to inconsistent identity controls that pose a serious cyber risk. Agencies are managing complex environments that mix on-premises, hybrid and multi-cloud solutions, each requiring authentication and authorization. Most agencies are shifting to a zero-trust architecture — but to make it work, they need to reduce the number of identity tools and create a unified identity fabric, said Tabitha Hancock, Identity Services General Manager for UberEther.

“Identity is no longer just IT infrastructure — it’s the primary security control in our zero-trust world,” she said.” Agencies need to treat it as mission-critical and invest accordingly.”

In this video interview, Hancock describes how to tighten security by simplifying and modernizing identity controls. Topics include:

  • Providing secure remote access to mission-critical systems
  • Extending identity and access management to contractors and partners
  • Managing identity-based security in field operations
