I just received word of an exciting new community activity that is being supported by SAIC and SINET. The activity, under the banner “Apps for Security,” is a way of leveraging the power of human creativity and computer science plus a big dose of real data to seek solutions to key security challenges.
SINET, as you know, is the Security Innovation Network, a mission-focused collective led by the very collaborative Robert Rodriquez. SAIC has been a strong supporter of SINET, with my friend and world-class CTO Hart Rossman being one of the key advocates of the benefits of SINET to the security community.

Welcome to the Apps for Security community!We believe in the positive power that open data, collaboration, and entrepreneurship can have on the safety and security of the Internet community. So, we thought it would be a fun & productive endeavor to create an open event to encourage like minded individuals and organizations to collaborate on applications that can be developed and deployed immediately for everyone’s benefit. The goal of Apps for Security is to promote civic engagement, open innovation, and entrepreneurship while making us all safer and more secure in cyberspace.
We’ve organized Apps for Security as a day long event to energize the privacy and security community to create innovative new applications for public use. Walk in with a great idea, put in some elbow grease with a team of like minded innovators, and release your privacy or security enhancing app to the world!
