Job Search Techniques from the Internet’s Favourite Pets

As most of you are aware, I’m an HR guy. So I read a lot of articles relating to recruitment and job searching techniques. Last week I came across this one on Mashable by Afifa Siddiqui titled ““Job Search Techniques from the Internet’s Favourite Pets”. Really, who doesn’t like looking at Grumpy Cat memes?

I was expecting a good chuckle but the article gives some pretty solid advice for any job seeker and the lessons can also be put into play in your current job. Three main lessons:

1) Be Enthusiastic
2) Establish a Strong Personal Brand
3) Know Your Niche

Don’t be afraid to put your passions on display, your enthusiasm will be contagious to those around you and, if you are a job seeker, it might grab a potential employers attention. Get involved, “Social media tools are at your disposal to help you implement and develop a professional brand for yourself.”; Learn what your strengths and weaknesses are and play to them.

Not every job out there is going to be the right fit but by applying these three simple lessons the right job might just find you.
