LA-RICS RFP #2 – $600 million up for grabs … again!

Deltek Sr. Analyst Jeff Webster reports.

On November 9, Los Angeles County, Calif. released the much-anticipated LA-RICS request for proposals (RFP) number two. This RFP is a rebid of the original RFP, which was released in April 2010 and canceled in July 2011 due to a breach in procurement rules. Since then, the LA-RICS Joint Powers Authority, in conjunction with the county, has worked to pass legislation to allow a single RFP release. On top of this, the county has worked to ensure it does not lose essential federal grant funds for this project given the estimated $600 million value.

The RFP seeks the following five-phase approach to implementing broadband public safety communications across the county:

  1. System design
  2. Supply telecommunications system components
  3. Site construction and site modifications
  4. Telecommunications system implementation
  5. Telecommunications system maintenance
