It is with deep regret that I inform the BIG family of the passing of Mrs. Rubye Fields. As we all know, Rubye was one of the elite members who charted the original chapter (Parklawn Chapter) of Blacks In Government. Her love for BIG was evident, and there was no one who represented BIG with more vigor and enthusiasm than Rubye. Also, a Past National President, Rubye was respected and revered by us all. Her quick wit and often sharp humor set her apart within BIG, and her loss will remain with us for many years to come.
I ask that you keep her family in your prayers. When the family informs us of the homegoing arrangements, we will of course pass the information on as efficiently as possible. Until then, as National President, I am declaring Friday, December 9, 2011 as an Official Day of Mourning within all BIG Chapters in honor of Mrs. Rubye Fields.
