Results from the inaugural Incubator class

The inaugural class year of the Code for America Incubator has officially come to a close. Over the course of seven months, the companies received mentorship and training in design, engineering, sales, finance and other topics related to business and technology. Founders received desks here at CfA, where they could continue working full-time from the office on their startup.

Throughout the duration of the program companies have received numerous press mentions, including The Atlantic Cities, Fast Company Co.Design, GovTech, Nieman Journalism Lab, PBS, and the Wall Street Journal.

The companies, which collectively had three paying clients prior to the Incubator, currently have 22 clients from across the US in California, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan and Texas. Additionally, the companies have generated 251 new leads during their time in the Incubator. The companies have over 1,400 Twitter followers.

By the end of the program, all three companies – Civic Insight, LocalData and Textizen –have received Knight Foundation funding. They plan on implementing the strategies they formed during the Incubator to continue to grow their businesses.

This is the final post in a short series to recognize and celebrate the close of the 2013 Code for America Incubator. This program is powered by Google for Entrepreneurs.
