SOCOM Selects DigitalGlobe for Geospatial Dataset Software, Licenses

U.S. Special Operations Command plans to award a one-year sole-source contract to GeoEye Analytics, a subsidiary of DigitalGlobe, for human geography information system geospatial dataset software and licenses.

SOCOM selected GeoEye Analytics’ software for interoperability and compatibility with simulators the command uses, according to a Sept. 24 FedBizOpps notice.

“The specialized HGIS software is independently developed and fielded by DigitalGlobal that offers a unique satellite constellation for collecting data in areas not available through commercial means,” the notice says.

SOCOM aims to minimize software testing, integration, maintenance and training requirements through the sole-source award.
