What’s Your Career Focus?

“It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.” – Aristotle

The Universal Law states, “What you focus on expands.” It’s simple. What you focus on determines what you’ll find in life. If you focus on the reasons why you will never be promoted, you will only find more and more situations that will reinforce that thought. This is not to say that you will never have problems, but will you focus on the problems or the goals you have set for your career?

Focus on what you do want and not what you don’t want. Successful people focus on the abundant opportunities in the workplace and in life. Unsuccessful people focus on the problems and obstacles in their way.

A good colleague of mine once told me, “Where there is chaos there is opportunity.” So even if your department gets hit with sequestration, you will look for the good. You will look at it as an opportunity to perhaps pursue one of your dreams. Focus on the good in every situation and you will find it. Remember, what you focus on expands.
