What’s Next for Cloud and Government?

Migration to the cloud continues to be a top priority for government agencies. According to Gartner, about 47 percent of agencies actively use cloud services. As cloud has evolved, so have the possibilities it enables. Benefits are no longer broad. Instead, agencies are seeing mission-specific results through increased collaboration, data-sharing and analytics capabilities.

And thanks to programs like FedRAMP, agencies can now take the leap to the cloud with a safety net underneath their feet.

At the ATARC Federal Cloud & Data Center Summit, government and industry experts will examine cloud tools and techniques federal agencies are using to increase efficiencies and save costs. This educational, one-day symposium will be held on Wednesday, June 13 at the Marriott Metro Center in downtown Washington, D.C.

The morning session will feature speakers and panels with government thought leaders, while the afternoon session includes the MITRE-ATARC Cloud Collaboration Symposium, where government, academic, and industry subject matter experts will examine cloud and data center challenges and trends.

Speakers for the symposium include:

  • Sarah Fahden, Division Chief, Identity, Records and National Security, USCIS
  • Matt Goodrich, FedRAMP Director, GSA
  • Ashley Mahan, FedRAMP Evangelist, GSA
  • David Nelson, Chief Information Officer, NRC

The FedRAMP Five Awards, which honors government agencies and individuals who have contributed to the success of the FedRAMP program, will be announced at the end of the morning session.

Honoring the sixth anniversary of the FedRAMP program, these prestigious awards will recognize outstanding government cloud work in five categories: Large Agency, Small Agency, Large Agency Tech Lead, Small Agency Tech Lead and Future Leader.

Jay Huie, Secure Portfolio Director at GSA, will kick off the event with a Visionary Keynote on the cloud security landscape and FedRAMP Evangelist Ashley Mahan will serve as Government Chair.

The event is free to government and full-time academics and qualifies for 7.5 CPE credits from (ISQ)2, the world’s largest IT security organization. For more agenda information, a full list of speakers or to register visit: https://www.atarc.org/events/cloud-summit/.
