Advocacy Day on Capital Hill with Federally Employed Women (FEW), Today!

TODAY WE NEED YOU TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. MAKE A PHONE CALL TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVE AND PARTICIPATE IN OUR NATIONWIDE LETTER-WRITING CAMPAIGN TO SEVEN BILL SPONSORS

Federally Employed Women (FEW) announced that in conjunction with the 112th Congress and FEW’s National Legislative Agenda, FEW is conducting a nationwide Advocacy Day on TODAY!. Kicking off our efforts to engage the support of more than 4000 members and two million additional men and women employees in federal, state and municipal government agencies.

“We are asking all federal government employees everywhere in the United States and abroad to support this endeavor,” said SueWebster, FEW’s National President. She stated “Five of these bills we are concentrating our efforts on Advocacy Day are of extreme concern, and we must stand in solidarity with our union and coalition partners to make certain legislators will not keep seeking to balance the budget on the backs of federal workers.”

Two bills addressed that FEW supports are the “Equal Rights Amendment” (S. J. Res. 39), sponsored by Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD, and the “Paycheck Fairness Act” (S. 797) sponsored by Senator Barbara Milkulski (D-MD). The other five bills, are considered “Anti-FED” legislation. FEW is opposed to these bills:

H. R. 3812, Securing Annuities for Federal Employees Act of 2012, sponsored by Dennis Ross (R-FL)

H. R. 3844, Honest Budget Act, sponsored by Rep. Martha Roby (R-2-AL)

S. 644, Public-Private Employee Retirement Party Act, sponsored by Senator Richard Burr (R-NC)

H. R. 3029, Reducing the Size of Federal Government Through Attrition Act, sponsored by Representative Mick Mulvaney

S. 1931,Temporary Tax Holiday and Government Reduction Act, sponsored by Senator Dean Heller, R. Nevada (R-NV)
