Cloudera Day in DC

Carahsoft hosted a Cloudera Day in the DC area on 26 January 2012. Cloudera executives speaking at the event included their CEO Mike Olson, CTO Amr Awadallah, VP of Product Charles Zedlewski, VP of Customer Solutions Omer Trajman, and Cloudera’s Architect Doug Cutting. Doug is known as the founder of many successful open source projects including Lucene, Nutch, and Hadoop.

The event was heavily attended by government and private sector IT professionals and data scientists. Cloudera is the industry leader in Hadoop, contributing extensively to the open source code and putting out the most popular Hadoop distribution for free, Cloudera’s Distribution Including Apache Hadoop (CDH), which bundles the most valuable software in the Hadoop ecosystem integrated with one another and the widest range of hardware and software.

Topics discussed included “Cloudera and the Intelligence Community”, a “Platform Roadmap Update”, “How Hadoop is Revolutionizing Business Intelligence”, “Performance and High Availability”, “Hadoop Use Cases and Advanced Analytics”, a “Cloudera Management Discussion”, and “The State of Apache Hadoop”. In the coming weeks, we will be writing up some of the most valuable points from the conference for those who could not attend.
