Donate Clothing to Local Veterans in Need

Happy Holidays to All of You!!!!

And now a favor to ask…

I work at a Veterans Affairs hospital here in Pittsburgh and was talking to some of the veteran patients today. Many of them, especially in our homeless rehab programs, come in with very little clothing and some have extended stays in the hospital. There is a room for donated clothing at the hospital, but unfortunately, at this time of year the only clothes they have left are shorts, just when many of them need sweatshirts, coats, and decent shoes.

Do you have old clothes in the basement or a closet that you never use? If you have any used men’s or women’s clothing (especially winter) that you can spare for these American heroes to make their stay in the hospital more pleasant, I will gladly coordinate gathering them up and bringing them to the hospital here in Pittsburgh, or let me know and I can put you in contact with a veteran’s hospital near you. You can find a facilities map here and look for “voluntary services” at the facility.

This is a great way to clean out your closets for all of your new gifts this season and help keep our former servicemembers warm this winter. Anything you can spare would be much appreciated.

Thanks and warm wishes for the New Year,

Amy Loveridge
