How Full is Your Bucket?

After attending GovLoop’s NextGen training summit this past July, our group was so inspired that we started to pursue our own NextGen employee resource group. As of last week, we are now officially recognized by our Agency as NextGen@DCMA. One of our NextGen@DCMA goals is to bolster the culture of our Agency where people feel valued for their individual talents and contributions. In this vein, we stared a “Fill My Bucket” initiative.

NextGen@DCMA’s Fill My Bucket initiative is based on the premise that with the various demands of our daily schedules, we may not often take the time to simply let others know they are appreciated. Add the emerging cooler temps (at least where we are located on the East coast), as well as the mounting holiday pressure, and many people may experience what’s known as the ‘winter blues’ when our internal ‘bucket’ feels a bit less full.

With this in mind, NextGen@DCMA came up with an idea to help fill each other’s buckets. We’ve even created a short, ‘how-to video’ (note, a CAC card is required to access). NextGen@DCMA hopes to inspire as many people as possible to follow suit within their workplace.

Let your colleagues know how they make a difference. Express some encouragement or appreciation with a simple note on their bucket page. Let’s get each other’s buckets overflowing!

“When you encourage others, you in the process are encouraged because you’re making a commitment and difference in that person’s life. Encouragement really does make a difference.” – Zig Ziglar

Thanks, Hannah! We’re trying to make a difference one bucket at a time 🙂 Hopefully, encouraging others to do the same in the process. Would love to hear if this is something you bring to your organization and how it’s received. We’ve had great results so far.
